The concept of the hybrid car dates back to the late 1800s when Ferdinand Porsche developed the first working hybrid-electric vehicle. However, it was not until the late 20th century that major car manufacturers invested in the hybrid concept and mass-produced hybrid cars.

He combined the low-emission benefits of an electric car with the power of a gasoline engine to produce a hybrid vehicle.
With the help of his colleague, Charlie Rosen, who shared his belief about hybrid cars, Wouk was given the chance to prove his ideas of creating the hybrid car as one of the solutions to the rapid health cost of auto-pollution. They established a new company to develop their hybrid car idea and make it possible to be in the market and be used as an everyday car that belched far fewer harmful vapors than contemporary vehicles.
The Toyota Prius remains the premier choice of hybrid cars available in the market. Although old hybrid cars looked like alien vehicles and cost far more than conventional cars, the latest technology installed in newer versions of hybrid cars has made them look more like conventional cars and far cheaper than their predecessors. Hybrid cars today look very much like conventional cars but enable you to cut fuel consumption in half.
